President Bola Tinubu led the national mourning, describing Akeredolu as "a valiant governor and empathetic pioneer."

He hailed the late governor's "fortitude, positive energy, and endless commitment to the sacred and sociopolitical improvement of Nigeria."

Similarly, the Conference of Northern Governors expressed its sincere condolences to the people of Ondo State and praised Akeredolu's leadership, stating that "his outstanding accomplishments significantly impacted the transformation of Ondo State and contributed to the nation's progress."

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Chairman of the Conference, called Akeredolu "a senior figure, friend, strong advocate, and a visionary leader."

He also extended his sympathies to the governor's family and the people of Ondo State.

The House of Representatives Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, echoed the sentiment, calling Akeredolu's death a "major blow" to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He commended the late governor as a champion of the rule of law, democracy, and true federalism, highlighting his role in the struggle against military rule and the eventual return to democracy in 1999.
