Contrary to popular belief, snowfall occurs in many countries and places in Africa. There is a widespread notion that Africa's tropical environment prevents snowfall. Still, there are places where snowfall occurs occasionally.
Lesotho
Lesotho is a country that borders South Africa. It gets really cold there, and it gets a lot of snow. Winter's climax occurs in June and lasts until August. Temperatures in the winter can drop to as low as 0 degrees Celsius.
South Africa
The weather in South Africa is different. Because it is close to the South Pole, this country usually encounters cold winters with lows of -16 degrees Celsius. In certain places, winter lasts from June through August.
Morocco
Spain is the European nation that is most close to this African country. It is also surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Depending on the region, winter temperatures might drop as low as -5 to -8 degrees Celsius. Typically, snowfall occurs in December and February.
Uganda
Situated near Uganda's border with the Central African Republic lies the Rwenzori Mountain. There are glaciers, snow, and ice on this extremely frigid mountain. Typically, temperatures fall below -5 degrees Celsius and range from 20 degrees Celsius.
Tanzania:
Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is Africa's highest mountain. Equatorial trade winds and high-altitude anti-trades caused the mountain to become colder than the rest of Africa. It can go as low as -15 to -29 degrees Celsius at the summit. In June, July, August, and September, it occurs more frequently.
