Former Newcastle United forward, Chris Wood came back to St James Park to hurt the Magpies as he netted three goals to inspire Nottingham Forest to a 3-1 win.A win could have propelled Newcastle to sixth position on the Premier League standings, but the defeat to Nuno Esperito's side leaves them in seventh place.
The host took the lead in the lead in the 24th minutes through Alexander Isak. The forward slotted home from 12 yards after he was fouled by Ola Aina in the box and as the first half draws to a close, Chris Wood fired home the leveller assisted by Anthony Elanga.
In the second half, Chris Wood scored his second of the game to turn the game around for the visitors before adding a third in the 60th minutes to complete his hat trick.
The home aide fought hard to get back into the game but the visitors held to secure all three points.
