Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has slammed Ghana coach Chris Hughton for including Tariq Lamptey in the AFCON squad.
Tariq Lamptey was selected by Ghana boss Chris Hughton in his squad for AFCON 2023, despite the defender being sidelined since November 25.
Hughton included him in the 55-man provisional list to the ire of Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.
De Zerbi goes to war with Ghana over Lamptey
Lamptey has struggled with injuries throughout the season, prompting his absence from international games in October and November.
The decision to include him in the AFCON squad has sparked criticism from De Zerbi, highlighting concerns over the player's fitness and readiness for the tournament.
"Maybe the coach of Ghana doesn't watch the Premier League because I don't know how much time we are playing without Tariq Lamptey," said De Zerbi.
"If he wants to play with Lamptey, I'm happy for Tariq, but he's not available to play with Brighton so how can he play with Ghana at the AFCON?"
Ghana have been drawn in Group B alongside seven-time champions Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
