According to Edwin Clark, a former federal commissioner for information and South-South leader, Rotimi Amaechi was the one who introduced Nyesom Wike to politics, and the two of them conspired to assassinate Amaechi's godfather, Peter Odili.
This was revealed by Edwin Clark during a Channels Television programme in which he addressed the Rivers State crisis and the purported resolution of the right points. Throughout the show, Edwin Clark stated, "Wike was collecting revenue from motor parks until Amaechi recommended him to Odili to become Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government."
He went on to become Chief of Staff in Amaechi's administration from that role, and it was in that capacity that they both plotted to depose Amaechi's boss, Odili. Peter Odili was the father of Amaechi, but Odili and Wike plotted to remove Peter Odili from government. Even though they opened an investigation against him, Wike is now endorsing Odili instead. "What he did to the man is long forgotten."
