Rivers Crisis: Every Time BAT Is Given This Opportunity, He Turns a Blind Eye & Plays Politics-Kurtis Adigba

Following the intervention of the president that led to the peaceful agreement signed by Gov Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, Kurtis Adigba, a public affairs analyst, criticised the president's intervention in an interview with Channels Television, suggesting that the peaceful agreement between Gov Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike lacks comprehensive solutions. He stated that the president has always played politics when it comes to issues like this. He questioned whether the governor withdrawing court processes would also involve revoking court orders, emphasising the complexity of issues related to party defections.

Adigba expressed disappointment that key concerns were not adequately addressed, viewing it as an attempt to weaken constitutional governance. He also lamented the president's perceived reluctance to address such issues, despite his reputation as a Democrat.

According to him, "If the governor goes back and he withdraws all the court processes that he has filed, is he also going to withdraw all the orders of court? Does that lie within the governor to do that? What about those who changed from their party to another party? An issue that can only be dealt with by the law at this moment. Will these members be going back to the PDP or will they remain in the APC? So why were all these issues not addressed? and this is why I think that this is another attempt to emasculate the constitutional governance, and it's so sad that we have a president who has a reputation for being a democrat, but every time he (BAT) has been given this opportunity, he turns a blind eye, and then he plays politics."
