When Benin City Was Still Bini Empire, It Was Recorded That There Were Lights All Over The City-Mike Onolememen

An Edo State Governorship Aspirant, Dr Mike Onolememen has expressed his vision for Edo State's improvement, drawing inspiration from historical achievements. Referencing a book, "Black Genesis," he highlighted an account stating that during the era of the Bini Empire, specifically in Benin City, there were illuminated streets powered by palm oil. He emphasized the need to draw from such historical successes, posing a rhetorical question about the capabilities of the present generation compared to the achievements of their forefathers.

He said in an interview with AIT, ''There are so many things we can do in Edo State to make Edo better than what it is today. I recall when I was doing my Ph.D. in United States. There was a book I read, they call it black genesis. And in black genesis, I saw that the author of Black Genesis is an American. And I saw what he said, when Benin City was still Bini Empire, it was recorded that there were lights all over the city. And do you know what powered the street light? Palm oil. If our forefathers could do that then, what are we doing?''
