On 18th December, 2023 the President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu during an interview with ARISE News said that they do not see any danger in the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu instead of the danger they were facing for him being detained.
According to ARISE News, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu said "We don't see any danger in releasing Nnamdi Kanu. Instead, there is a danger when we are losing lives, we're losing business, we're losing every opportunity by his staying there. I have been able to convince the majority of Nigerians to see that Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any offense that can put him incarcerated for such a long time, and then, this incarceration is putting our whole civil population in Southeast in jeopardy, their lives threatened, their business is threatened, everything is threatened."
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu emphasized that they don't know if there was any act of terrorism that was linked to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but to them, they don't know any.
