Five members of the Rivers House of Assembly who are loyal to Governor Sim Fubara have approved the 2024 appropriation bill for the state.
Torizone reports that the pro-Fubara faction headed by Edison Ehie approved the budget few hours after it was submitted by the governor on Wednesday, December 13.
On Monday, December 11, the Rivers State Executive Council approved the estimated budget of over N800 billion, tagged by the governor as the 'Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity' for the 2024 fiscal year.
The faction had moved the pouse plenary session to the Government House, Port Harcourt, following the destruction of some parts of the assembly complex by an early morning fire in October.
Earlier today, about 10 bulldozers had stormed the Assembly complex to demolish the affected parts.
It was learnt that the 27 members of the House loyal to FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, were absent during the plenary.
Reports say the members are currently in Abuja for Wike's birthday celebrations.
