Dele Farotimi, a Human Rights Advocate, in a video posted by Sahara TV, began by questioning whether, during the Experience 2023 event, there were discussions about the challenges facing the country, particularly the perceived evils and wickedness of the ruling class. He emphasised the need for pastors to address these issues and speak out against societal injustices. Farotimi underscored that any Christian gathering, including events like the Experience, should not merely be a celebratory occasion but should also involve discussions and preaching that address truth, justice, and probity.
He emphasised the importance of providing leadership within Christian communities, urging attendees to reflect on whether the event served a purpose beyond being a joyous celebration. Farotimi invoked the idea that God is the God of truth, suggesting that Christian gatherings should align with this principle by addressing societal issues and promoting values of truth, justice, and probity.
According to him, "I used to be very loyal in attendance at the experience and in church as well, but there's something I would like to find out from those of you who attended. Did the pastor talk about the evil that has overtaken our country? Did he preach against the wickedness of the ruling class? Yes, did he? Okay, so I know that Saul has come and David is coming, but the question is, did we just go have a party in God's presence without talking to ourselves? God is the God of truth. God is the God of truth. I blame not the clergies who are normalising the evil; I blame those of us who have failed to provide leadership. They're doing their job, but any gathering of Christians anywhere in this country today that does not speak to the demands of truth, justice, probity is just a party."
