The Zamfara State High Court of Justice has handed down a death sentence by hanging to one person and life imprisonment to another person for culpable homicide and attempted armed robbery.
During the trial, Justice Mukhtar Yusha'u, the presiding judge, found both individuals guilty.
Anas Dahiru, who resides in the Unguwar Dallatu area of Gusau in Zamfara State, was accused of fatally stabbing his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim, with a knife during a disagreement over N100 in 2017.
Justice Yusha'u found Dahiru guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging in line with Section 221 of the panel code.
The presiding judge also convicted Sadiqu Abubakar for attempted armed robbery in the Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State.
Sadiqu was found guilty of assaulting a businessman in Runji village, located within the Bungudu local government area of the state.
Justice Mukhtar Yusha'u stated that Sadiqu Abubakar violated Section 221 of the panel code and consequently sentenced him to life imprisonment.
