The Labour Party has taken a swipe at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government over the high price of goods and services in the country.
Recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress increased the pump price of petrol during his inauguration on the 29th of May 2023. The development has caused more hardship for many Nigerians across the country.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh said this in an interview with Vanguard in Abuja on Thursday.
Vanguard reported that Labour Party spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh said; "It is sad that most Nigerians now spend over 80 percent of their income on food alone; we are not taking about energy costs and out-of-pocket expenses on healthcare."
He added; "This government has not made pretenses about its intentions with regards to funding the lavish lifestyles of those in elective office to the detriment of the suffering people of Nigeria"
He stated further; "Now, more than ever before, the cost of food has risen beyond what ordinary Nigerians can afford. A bag of 50 kg of rice is over N50,000 today, up from N8,000 only a few years ago"
The recent post by the Labour Party spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh which was shared by Vanguard on its various social media platforms have generated a lot of reactions from many Nigerians.
