A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Tuesday sentenced Tiwei Monday to sixteen years imprisonment and a vandal, Clement Ododomu, to death by hanging.
Judge Hakeem Oshodi, who made the decision on October 11, 2023, found Ododomu and Monday guilty on the charges of conspiracy and murder.
Justice Oshodi handed down the verdict on Tuesday, concluding that the convicts' behaviour, which he described as "unremorseful," and the facts presented to the court had led to a just punishment.
The defendants, vandals, were charged with the murders of seven State Department policemen in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The judge said: "The court has considered the allocutus of the defence counsel, however, the position of the law is binding to us all. As noted above, the first defendant was convicted on counts one, five, seven, nine, and 10, while the second defendant was convicted on counts one and 10."
