Manchester City were dealt a blow in their preparations for the upcoming Liverpool clash, with Erling Haaland suffering an ankle injury with Norway.
The forward came off the bench in a friendly match which his side eventually won 2-0, but City fans and manager, Pep Guardiola will be left fuming by his involvement. Haaland went down with just a few minutes remaining, with national team doctor Ola Sand hinting that the 23-year-old had injured the same ankle he has sustained issues with before.
Sand revealed, per Vg: "He got a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly. Then we'll see tomorrow how he is then."
Haaland has been in relentless form thus far this season and has scored 17 goals in 18 games in all competitions. Any potential absence for the Norway international will be a bitter blow for Guardiola and City as they aim to retain the treble, they won last season.
City play Liverpool in nine days so they will face an anxious wait over Haaland's fitness. As it stands, Guardiola's side are one point clear of the Reds at the top of the Premier League table.
