Newcastle United are interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres following Callum Wilson's injury news.[/b]
The Magpies are seventh in the Premier League table and have the most injuries in the Premier League.
Wilson is expected to be out until the end of December with a hamstring issue he picked up in a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last week.
It's a blow to manager Eddie Howe, who is already without an additional 10 first-team players.
Alexander Isak will return after the international break, although he's had fitness issues since arriving from Real Sociedad in 2022.
Newcastle could be forced to dip into the transfer market in January and according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, they're eyeing up a move for Torres.
The Spain international has previously played in England with Manchester City, winning the Premier League in 2021.
He joined the club as a winger and eventually played as the lone striker under Pep Guardiola.
Torres was lured back to his homeland by Barcelona in a £55 million transfer, although it's not been a stellar time at the Camp Nou.
The 23-year-old slipped down the pecking order following Robert Lewandowski's arrival just a few months later. Torres is now on the list of players cash-strapped Barcelona are looking to shift in an attempt to balance the books.
Last summer, Torres was linked with a move to Arsenal and publicly addressed the claims in an interview.
"It's very important for a striker to start scoring, to get off to a good start," he told Sport.
I'm going to fight for a place in the team. And then it is up to the coach to decide (my future).
"The names (linked with moves away) are provided by journalists. I have a contract here. I'm going to stay. I don't care what anyone says about me. I'm going to work as hard as anyone else."
Newcastle return to action after the international break against Chelsea.
