Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has insisted that the Biafra agitator is not a terrorist.
Ejimakor stated that Kanu is the leader of millions, and legions will never relent until he regains freedom.
He pointed out that four courts won't award a terrorist monetary compensation and an unconditional release.
Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: "This truth is self-evident: A terrorist can never be awarded monetary compensation by 3 High Courts & unconditional release by the Court of Appeal & the United Nations. #FreeMNK. He's not a terrorist. He's a leader of millions & legions who will never relent until he's freed."
The IPOB leader has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the orders of the Nigerian government since his rearrest in Kenya in 2021.
Kanu was rearrested in Kenya in 2021 and subjected to an extraordinary rendition back to Nigeria.
Since his return to Nigeria, courts have ordered his release while granting Kanu monetary compensation.
Despite court orders granting the IPOB leader freedom, the Nigerian government has refused to release him.
On Monday, IPOB accused the DSS of denying Kanu access to visitors amid his deteriorating health condition.
