John Obi-Mikel, a Chelsea icon, has now approached Victor Osimhen about joining the team in the summer.
On his "Obi One Podcast," he pleaded with the Napoli striker to transfer to Stamford Bridge, even joking that he would help close the deal.
Many have speculated that Chelsea is now searching for a striker to fill in what appears to be the void in their lineup.
Among those most strongly associated with a move to Stamford Bridge is Osimhen.
Though a price estimate of £150 million has been mentioned in recent weeks, the transaction would not come cheap.
Mikel, nevertheless, is eager to get him to the team and believes the Blues are in dire need of a player such as him.
Mikel suggests Osimhen to Chelsea
He said: "Next season, I know you're gonna come to Chelsea. I'm telling you, I'm gonna be the agent to broker that deal.
"I'm gonna make sure that happens. We are crying out for someone like you - since Didier Drogba left the club.
Osimhen responds to Mikel and Chelsea
Osimhen responded to the statement by Mikel and made his preference known between Chelsea and Manchester United.
He said, "I don't have a favourite PL team but I've two jerseys: Chelsea and Man United".
"Many friends of mine are Chelsea fans, few are Man Utd fans".
"Premier League is the most appreciated league by every African player - it's a huge league."
The statement from Osimhen comes after Mikel stated that he chose Chelsea over Manchester United.
Osimhen talked about several other issues as he continues his recovery from injury.
