Nigeria's Victor Osimhen has been in contract talks with Napoli for a new deal but is currently injured and out of action.
Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen has touched down in Naples, with a less-than-optimistic contract update from the club's director.
Osimhen, who has been Napoli's main man but has been out after picking up an injury while on international duty last month, temporarily left the squad for personal reasons.
Osimhen returns to Napoli
The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during Nigeria's international friendly against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia last month in Portugal.
Osimhen's injury has ruled him out of Napoli's last five matches in all competitions, with the Nigerian forward using the opportunity to attend to some personal issues.
As reported by Pulse Sports, the former LOSC Lille man was given permission to attend to some personal problems back in his country, Nigeria.
Napoli confirm return
Per a post by the reliable transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen has touched down in Naples after his short break.
This was according to a Napoli director, who also delivered a not-so-positive update on Osimhen's contract situation with the club.
Napoli director Meluso: "Osimhen is back in the city today," Napoli director Meluso reportedly stated.
On Osimhen's new deal, "New deal talks? We've been negotiating for months, it's a long negotiation," he added. "We will see how it goes, step by step."
Meanwhile, the negotiations for a new contract have several roadblocks due to purported contract demands that have left the player and club at odds.
The Nigerian forward and his current club have initiated discussions regarding a contract extension, with just two years left on his present agreement.
Osimhen and Napoli are also reportedly at loggerheads over a release clause, with the club wanting to set the fee at 200 million euros but the player wants an 'easy and cheap fee.
Osimhen has scored six goals in eight matches this season in the Serie A but is sidelined until mid-November due to a hamstring injury he picked up while on international duty with the Nigerian national men's team, the Super Eagles.
