The International Foundation for Refugees and Migration (IFReM) - a United Nations-affiliated non-governmental organization based in New York City, has congratulated Africa's most legendary movie star, Kanayo. O. Kanayo (KOK), on his most recent award and traditional title of Ugwu Ndigbo (Pride of Igbo people), conferred on him by the paramount ruler of Eri Kingdom in Aguleri, Anambra State, His Majesty, Eze Dr. Chukwuemeka Eri, who doubles as the traditional custodian of Igbo symbol of culture during the 2023 Eri World Festival.
In a statement released by IFReM representative in Nigeria, Emeka Eze, IFReM's founder, Ezekiel Ogbonna who is a culture enthusiast, stated that he is most elated at the outstanding contributions of KOK in the promotion and preservation of Igbo cultural heritage through his extraordinary zeal and commitments to the welfare of his people and Ndigbo in general.
"This award, amongst many others, is a testament of appreciation by people for his positive contributions to the society", he emphasised.
According to Ogbonna, KOK is distinguished as a pathfinder in the traditional movie industry of Nigeria, which heralded the explosive Nollywood era where aspiring thespians found their feet.
He added that KOK is multi-skilled and bestrides the walls of his industry like a colossus, pointing that he is indisputably a bridge between the old and contemporary settings that blends creative delivery with amiable socio-cultural behaviour to effortlessly mingle with Nigeria's Who is Who.
The statement, however, wished Kanayo well, praying that the latest crown will be a basis for greater feats in life.
