Nigerian rapper Reminisce voiced his displeasure at Lionel Messi winning the 2023 Ballon d'Or, claiming the Argentine was 'gifted' the award.
Lionel Messi's eighth Ballon d'Or continues to be a source of controversy with many believing Erling Haaland was more deserving and one of such people is Nigerian rapper Reminisce.
Remilekun Khalid Safaru, known more popularly by his stage name 'Reminisce' and/or other names such as 'Alaga Ibile' or 'Baba Hafusa' was vehement in his belief that Messi was not the rightful winner of the 2023 Ballon d'Or.
The rapper made the statement on the Zero Conditions Podcast, where he also voiced his opinion on the GOAT debate, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and other football matters.
Reminisce on Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or
Reminisce started the conversation by saying, "I'm a Ronaldo fan boy" which gave context for his beliefs about Messi's Ballon d'Or.
"He didn't win anything, he was gifted, everybody knows this. I said this last year, Cristiano Ronaldo is the one true GOAT, Lionel Messi is FIFA's creation," said Reminisce.
He went on to claim the 2022 FIFA World Cup which Argentina won in Qatar was scripted, "World Cup yen, it was a well-written script."
He rounded off that conversation by praising Cristiano Ronaldo, "dedicated, no hobby, no side hustle, no tattoo...play ball. Wake up play ball, sleep play ball."
