The Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) has asserted that northerners should refrain from expressing dissatisfaction regarding President Bola Tinubu's perceived biased appointments.

Northerners Don't Have The Right To Complain Over Tinubu's Appointments - NYLF

As reported by Torizone, several leaders from the North have accused Tinubu of making appointments that favor the South West, his own region of origin.

During a recent sermon, Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi criticized Tinubu for appointing Southern Christians to key positions and predicted that the President would not secure a second term in office. Gumi also accused the President of exploiting the North's support to reach the Presidency, only to pursue an agenda that weakens the region's political influence.

Speaking to reporters in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Elliot Afiyo, the national President of NYLF, argued that Tinubu was exacerbating the disparity in appointments inherited from his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Afiyo pointed out that Buhari's administration had created a lopsided appointment ratio of 80:20 in favor of the North and South.

However, Elliot emphasized the need for Tinubu to address and rectify this growing imbalance, as it is imperative for the country not to perpetuate these perceived errors.

"But Buhari came in and created the gap to be 20/80. And even the northerners that they were saying that Buhari appointed were not northerners per se. There were a few cliques, the North itself didn't benefit from it, but we are now seeing the appointments by President Tinubu are tilting towards the South West. He narrowed the gap that Buhari created, but the gap he is creating now is also widening.

"I would say northerners don't have the right to complain that the appointments or placements are lopsided. We don't have the right to complain.
