Amid a growing conflict and crisis in Gaza, efforts to secure the release of foreigners from Gaza have taken on a deeply complex and multiparty nature, according to CNN.

Hamas, the governing authority in Gaza, requested the negotiations by demanding that some of its fighters be included in the list of injured individuals to be released.

This request, however, was met with rejection, as confirmed by a senior US official.

Egyptian authorities have insisted on thorough checks for every person before allowing them to cross into their country.

It is estimated that approximately 500 people may be processed for release today, with the potential for that number to increase to around 1,000 people per day starting tomorrow, according to the same US official.

While the exact timeline remains uncertain, it is expected that American citizens will not be among the first group leaving Gaza on Wednesday.

Internal US government correspondence obtained by CNN indicates that the departure of US citizens is likely to commence as soon as Thursday, although some Americans may manage to leave as early as Wednesday.
