Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has called on Muslim countries to cease trade with Israel, including halting oil exports, in response to Israel's airstrikes on Gaza following deadly attacks by Hamas.
According to report, the Israeli military has been conducting airstrikes in Gaza since October 7, and the conflict has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with many being civilians.
Iran, a supporter of Hamas, has praised the group's actions but denies direct involvement and emphasizes that Hamas acts independently.
Iran President Ebrahim Raisi also expressed Iran's commitment to supporting resistance groups.
"Islamic governments must insist on quickly ending the crimes," Khamenei told a gathering of students in Tehran.
"Muslim countries should not cooperate economically with the Zionist regime (Israel)," he said, calling for a "block on oil and food exports".
"The Muslim world must not forget who is putting pressure on the population of Gaza. It's not just about the Zionist regime".
