Nigerian celebrities have stories of humble beginnings, being poor, broke or relating tales of suffering. Some others on the other hand had parents who sought to give them the best of life.
Some of them were born abroad, others were born in Nigeria but left immediately after high school. Some have very prominent parents that no introduction is needed.

1. Rita Dominic
Rita Dominic is a fascinating Nigerian actress and singer who is the youngest of 4 siblings. Her late parents were medical practitioners; her father was a medical doctor and her mother a nursing officer.
The actress was born into the Royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaisu region in Imo State, Nigeria.
2. DJ Cuppy
Florence Otedola, better known as D.J Cuppy is a Nigerian-British entertainer, disc jocker and celebrity. She launched her new project, House of Cuppy on 8th August 2014.
Her Father is Billionaire Femi Otedola, CEO Forte Oil Plc. He is also the Nigerian President and CEO of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited.
3. Osas Ighodaro
Ighodaro was born in Bronx, New York, United States, to Nigerian parents from Edo State. She obtained her first degree in broadcast journalism with dual minors in entrepreneurship and theater from Pennsylvania State University.
4. Tolu Oniru
Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, is a Nigerian radio personality, talk show host, and presenter. She is best known for hosting The Midday Show on The Beat 99.9 FM. Her parents are part of the famous Oniru Royal family of Lagos State.
5. Omawumi
Singer, Omawumi was born to Chief Dr. Frank and Mrs. Aya Megbele on 13 April 1982. After graduating in 2005, she moved to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she worked with her family's law firm called "O.S Megbele & Associates"
6. Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi
Gbemi Olateru- Olagbegi was born into the popular Olateru-Olagbegi royal family of the ancient Owo town, Ondo state. Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi is an on-air-personality with Beat 99.9 FM.
7. Stephanie Coker
Stephanie Coker was born by the name Stephanie Omowunmi Eniafe Coker on 28 November 1989 to Nigerian parents but moved to London, UK at the tender age of 1. Her dad is a native of Badagry in Lagos while her mum hails from Abeokuta.
She attended St Mary's Church of England Primary school in North London, a place she described as "a really small school where Christianity was taken very seriously". She holds a bachelor's degree in media communications from the Brunel University in West London.
Her childhood dream was to be become a lawyer. While at Brunel, she interned at MTV, Channel Four and Media Moguls PR. We can only say she had to have had comfortable parents who could afford to pay her bills.
8. Bolanle Olukanni
Bolanle who was born on August 19 was raised in four different countries - Nigeria, Israel, Kenya and America. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago, with Honours in a double degree of BA Communications and BA International Studies.
9. Moet Abebe
Popularly known as Moet Abebe, she is a Nigerian video jockey, television presenter, actress, catering executive.
Born in the United Kingdom, she went to Corona Ikoyi Primary School for her Primary School education, Dowen College for a year where she did her part of secondary education.
From there she went to Woldingham Secondary School in Woldingham, Surrey, United Kingdom.In 2008 she gained admission into the University of Manchester, where she studied Law.
Her journey into limelight came after she decided to move back to Nigeria in pursuit of a career as a Tv Presenter. She is the from the popular Abebe family and she is related to the late Stella Obasanjo.
10. Arese Ugwu
An associate member of WIMBIZ (Women in Management Business and Public Service), she has served on the planning committee since 2015.
With an MSc in Economic Development graduate from University College London and a BSc in Business and Management from Aston Business School in the UK, Ugwu is a phenomenal woman with a drive that has put her in a dominating position in the financial scene in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Isn't it obvious that she had financial backings as a toddler right up to her youth?
11. Zainab Balogun
Zainab Balogun was born in London, United Kingdom to Nigerian parents, where she was raised with a large extended family, predominantly in Clapham, a district of Southwest London.
She attended Christ the King Sixth Form College where she completed her A Levels in Law, Psychology, and English Language & Literature. She then attended the University of Kent in Medway where she received a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB).
