Manchester United are considering bringing back David de Gea on a short-team deal, according to the UK Sun.
De Gea only left Old Trafford less than six months ago after his contract expired.
Ever since leaving United, De Gea has not played for any other club.
During his time with the Red Devils, the Spaniard made 545 appearances in 12 years and was a popular figure in the dressing room.
It is understood that some United players were unhappy with the way the goalkeeper was treated.
Now the Premier League club is considering bringing the free agent back as they are worried about the lack of cover when Cameroon's Andre Onana goes to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir are United's other senior goalkeepers, but neither have made an appearance so far this season.
United were caught off guard after Onana reversed his decision to retire from international football.
