The recent massacre in Oturkpo, the Benue State capital has been a source of concern to many, majorly because of the loss of many lives.
It has now made the Oyachaba K'Idoma, Professor Dickson Akor to rise up in anger like all well-meaning people would do in the face of such a carnage.
Professor Akor said that all Idoma should be united in the quest to finding lasting solutions to security challenges in Benue South generally.
He made the call through a press statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abuja today October 24.
The Eagle recalls that a recent massacre in Oturkpo following a robbery incident involving some new generation banks on October 20, 2023.
Reacting, the traditional ruler recounted a similar incident in Otukpo resulting in the killing of some Police Officers on duty in Ojali in cold blood some years ago.
According to him the recent one has made it one attack too many, and he is urging the people to be united in stemming the tide.
"Security men can achieve little if taken unawares in arms combat just as witnessed in this case.
"Perpetrators of such organised crime must have studied the terrain and the security gaps before striking," he said.
Condemning the killing of a banker, and customers, and also some Police Officers, including the Divisional Police Officer of Otukpo, no meaningful development could achieved in such an atmosphere of insecurity and killing.
The government he said, should marshal out a programme of containment of the incidents, even as he advocated for the gainful engagement of youths in the area.
Professor Akor equally commended the prompt responses of men of the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services and those he described as the brave Idoma youth for responding.
The response he added lead to the death of two of the criminals,
He also advised security agencies on the need to continue to synergize towards containing the criminals operating in the state.
