The ex-wife of Dotun Kayode, Taiwo Oyebanjo, was found guilty of contempt by the court over her refusal to allow Dotun to see his kids.
Taiwo Oyebanjo, who filed for divorce in Abuja, was found guilty of contempt of court and may face a jail term.
A high court in Dukpa, Abuja, found Taiwo Oyebanjo guilty of breaching the court's decision on the couple's joint custody of their children.
It should be remembered that the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife shared custody of the children in suit No. GWD/PET/25/21 after Dotun requested it in April 2022 and both parties initially consented.
Taiwo has refused to allow her estranged spouse access to their children since December 2022, despite the court's ruling, stating no reason. As a result, Dotun took legal action, sparking a recent violent and severe social media feud between the two.
The court declared that Taiwo's refusal to give Dotun Kayode access to and custody of the children in December 2022 constituted a violation of the court's order, and it found her guilty of doing so. The court also ordered Taiwo to pay N200,000 within 30 days or face jail time until the fine is paid.
It was nearly a little drama, according to reports, when Dotun's estranged wife's lawyers tried to withdraw their representation after the ruling was delivered. For the trial, the matter was nevertheless moved to December 11th.
