Fabrizio Romano reveals what he's heard about Victor Osimhen amid Liverpool contract agreement reports

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given the latest update on a potential move to Liverpool for Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

The Nigeria international has been linked with a move away from Naples ever since the club posted an edited video of the striker to TikTok.

The video mocked Osimhen after he missed a penalty during his side's 0-0 draw against Bologna, and his agent Roberto Calenda stated that the player 'reserve(s) the right to take legal action' against the club for the 'unacceptable' video.

He is yet to sign an extension on his contract, which expires in 2025, and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has suggested that the player may not necessarily do so.

Italian journalist Valter Di Maggio, meanwhile, has reported (via TEAMtalk) that Liverpool are interested in signing the striker next summer.

He claims that Osimhen and Calenda have even reached an agreement with Liverpool over a transfer, which has caused the Nigeria star to think twice about staying in Italy.

The issue for the Reds would be the asking price, with De Laurentiis demanding €170 million this summer to sell his prized asset. Whether that valuation has lowered in recent weeks, given recent events, is unclear.

Liverpool could afford that sum if they were to sell Mohamed Salah to Al Ittihad, with Osimhen potentially seen as a replacement if Salah decides he wants to leave next summer.

Now, Romano has given an update on a potential move to Anfield for Osimhen - and it isn't good news for Reds supporters.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: "From what I'm told, Victor Osimhen hasn't agreed anything with any club - not even Napoli. There's no agreement on the contract extension.

"Napoli made a really important proposal to Osimhen, in terms of contract. Very important salary, the biggest in Napoli history is on the table for Osimhen. But he has not decided.

"Reports of an agreement with Liverpool are not true."

However, Romano did offer some hope for the Liverpool faithful: "For sure, Liverpool and many other clubs are keeping an eye on the situation of many strikers.

"But at the moment for Osimhen, nothing is agreed and nothing is decided."
