'Some People Told Me I Have To Be Careful That Abuja Is Not Rivers State' - Wike

The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike has alleged that some people have been advising them to be cautious of his decision-making, reminding him that Abuja is not Rivers State where he was a former governor. He however stated that he had refused to entertain this advice being given to him. He highlighted that in governance one must have the ability to make firm decisions that may not sit well with everyone in the locality. According to him, there is no difference between being a governor in Rivers state and a minister in the FCT.

He said in an interview with FCT, ''You can't do governance without stepping on toes. In government, you must be somebody who will make a decision. Decisions must not be suitable for everybody. There are decisions that I have taken and people will come to meet me and I will say please, I'm here to make decisions.

And I believe that the decisions I have taken is the right one. And so I have to do it. Some people told me I have to be careful that Abuja is not Rivers State. I said look, take this your advice elsewhere. I'm aware that Abuja is not Rivers State and that is why it is called Abuja. It's about supervising over the territory of a place, there is no difference.''
