Nigerian football fans have advised Victor Osimhen to make a decision and quit Serie A side Napoli because of the many negative comments he has received in recent times.
Lovers of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen have once again urged the 24-year-old to quit his Naples club side.
This is after former Serie A chief Luciano Moggi asked Napoli to punish the Nigerian striker for throwing tantrums after coach Rudi Garcia substituted him during Napoli's game against Bologna.
Luciano Moggi, a former general director of Napoli and Juventus, believes that Osimhen's attitude towards his coach was unacceptable and must not be left unpunished.
However, the former Lille man was quick to apologise to the coach and his teammates in the dressing room after the game.
He said his antics was borne out of a desire to win and not to disrespect Rudi Garcia in any way. Osimhen's apology provided him a soft landing, and he later escaped a fine for his unsavoury bahaviour.
Osimhen is not the owner of Napoli - Luciano Moggi
Meanwhile, Luciano Moggi believes Osimhen's apology was not enough and that Napoli should fine him, which has now prompted many Nigerians to react.
"At the moment, it's true there is a distance compared to last year, but it's there because the change of coach was too traumatic," Luciano Moggi told Radio Crc (via Tribal Football).
"With Garcia, the coach changes, the preparation changes, everything changes. The club must make it clear that it is on the coach's side by educating the players.
"Player education is taught with a fine, even if it is (Victor) Osimhen who makes that gesture. Napoli are strong and the season has just started so we need to put things back in their place. Osimhen is not the owner of Napoli; he must understand that he must give his best."
Nigerians react to Luciano Moggi's statement
Nigerian football fans on Pulse Sports Facebook page showed support for the Super Eagles striker, urging him to quit Napoli in January.
Osimhen has been enmeshed in a lot of trouble recently at Napoli. After his substitution row, the Nigerian was the subject of a bizarre TikTok video after he missed a penalty.
The Super Eagles striker's performance has attracted many top European clubs. The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and now Liverpool all have Victor Osimhen on their radar.
Osimhen, who is currently sidelined due to an injury he picked up while on international duty for Nigeria against Saudi Arabia, will decide his future in the days to come. The big question remains if he will leave Napoli in January. Only time will tell.
