American actress and talk show host, Jada Pinkett Smith has confirmed separation from her husband, actor Will Smith.
The 52-year-old said she and the 'Bad Boys For Life' actor have been living "completely separate lives" since 2016.
She disclosed this in a clip from her forthcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb.
She said they are not legally divorced but have been separated for seven years.
"It was not a divorce on paper but it was a divorce. Since 2016, we have been living apart," Pinkett said, adding that they had not previously gone public with their separation because they were not "ready yet."
The couple got married in 1997 and were blessed with two children- a boy named Jaden, and a girl called Willow.
In July 2020, singer August Alsina revealed that he had been romantically involved with Pinkett Smith, something she confirmed during an episode with her husband on "Red Table Talk."
Pinkett explained that her marriage was "going through a very difficult time" when she got into an "entanglement" with August.
