Mourinho facing sack at Roma with only one game left to save his job

Jose Mourinho reportedly facing sack at Roma with only one game left to save his job

According to reports, Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, could be fired if his team loses to Cagliari on Sunday in Serie A.

Mourinho has led them to consecutive sixth-place league finishes, a Europa League final, and a win in the first Europa Conference League.

However, Roma has had a poor start to the new season and is presently ranked 13th in Serie A after winning just two of their first seven league games.

The Italian giants are now considering relieving the Portuguese of his job if the team loses their game this weekend according to reports.

Mourinho's job on the line

Dan Friedkin, the owner of Roma, is prepared to fire Mourinho if they lose to bottom-of-the-league Cagliari, according to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport as reported by the Mirror.

The report suggested that Friedkin planned to oust the Portuguese after Roma's 4-1 loss to Genoa the previous week, but Tiago Pinto, the sporting director, urged him to extend his tenure.

Since then, Roma has defeated Servette 4-0 in the Europa League and Frosinone 2-0 in the league, but Friedkin is reportedly still debating Mourinho's future.

Meanwhile, Mourinho responded to criticism of Roma's season-opening performance, "I don't read the papers, listen to the radio or watch the TV.

"But I have friends, I have players, I have assistants, I have people who, even if I don't want to know, inform me of things.

"I won't accept it. Because it's not true. I'm not the problem. In football, and in life too, there are multiple factors.

"It's the same when you win: you can't say one person is responsible for it. We all are. Lots of little things are at play in a football club, a business, a political structure, an educational structure, and I know because I've worked in one. It's always multiple factors."
