The Hammers edged their German opponents in a nervy encounter, as they made it two wins from their opening two UEFA Europa League matches this season.

West Ham's incredible run of form means they have become the first English team to reach 17 consecutive matches unbeaten in European competition history.
West Ham enjoy stellar European run
Moyes' West Ham have outlived even the likes of Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, the giants of Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United sides, and even Pep Guardiola's treble winners to claim the top spot among English clubs.
West Ham won the Europa Conference League in the 2022/23 season and would be aiming to win the Europa League this season to become the first English team to win back-to-back European honours since Chelsea in 2012 and 2013.
West Ham's last loss in Europe came more than a year ago in the Europa League semifinals against Frankfurt, where they lost both legs of the tie, crashing out at the penultimate round.
