When Okocha Explained Why He Used to Dribble a Lot During His Time in Germany, Video

Nigerian legendary midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha once disclosed why he often dribbled during his time in the Bundesliga in his football heyday.

The Super Eagles legend is known for the entertaining style of play and was a big fan of this aspect of the sport.

Okocha played for two teams in Germany's top flight during his playing days but was mostly known for his performance with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Nigerian football legend was at the Die Adler for four seasons before leaving Germany and was a problem for opponents due to dribbles, which he later explained he did, according to Brila.

"When I first got to Europe, it was Germany that I went to and the level of racism there was high. I never knew I was black until I got to Germany," he said.

"When I got the opportunity to sign a deal, and I signed, I was like - how am I going to repay this person back in a legal way? Then, I decided to dribble them in order to show I am a racist."

His comment notwithstanding, the former Bolton Wanderers star will always be remembered for the goal he scored against Karlsruher SC.

Okocha deftly dribbled past numerous players, including the opposition goalkeeper, Oliver Kahn, who later became a Bayern Munich legend.
