Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has said that defender, Raphael Varane, may be finished at the top level of football.
According to him, the Frenchman's legs are 'looking sluggish'. Scholes made the claim following the questionable start to the new term.
The former Real Madrid defender has already missed a month of the season through injury.
The former France international was to blame for Akturkoglu's equalizer in Manchester United's 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday night when he drifted out wide and allowed a pass through his legs.
He also failed in his effort to close down Mauro Icardi before the former Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain striker chipped goalkeeper Andre Onana to score the winner.
"I worry about Varane a bit, he has been one of the very best defenders around, in that same ilk at Real Madrid," Scholes said to TNT Sports.
"I just think his legs are looking sluggish, he can't keep fit and I worry about him.
"Really disappointed. I actually don't think they played that badly. All the talk before the game was that they couldn't really score goals and there was a lack of goals in the team.
"It is almost as if we disregarded the defensive side of the game and the defensive side of the team. It wasn't good enough; they were wide open at times."
