Gary Neville responds to Jurgen Klopp wanting Tottenham vs Liverpool replayed

Gary Neville has laughed off Jurgen Klopp wanting the game between Tottenham vs Liverpool replayed following the VAR error.

Luis Diaz had a goal incorrectly ruled out in Liverpool's crushing 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday.

The PGMOL have since released the VAR audio of Liverpool's offside goal, with fans spotting one damning moment from the incident.

The league fixture could be replayed if an appointed commission rules the match officials breached the laws of the game.

Klopp himself wants the game replayed against Spurs after Diaz's goal was wrongly disallowed by VAR.

Speaking ahead of his side's Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, he said: "Something like this never happened, so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do."

Asked whether Liverpool had asked - or would ask - the Premier League for a replay, the German boss replied: "At this stage we are still going through the information we have."

He added: "The audio didn't change it at all. It is an obvious mistake. There should be solutions for that. The outcome should be a replay. But it probably won't happen.

"The argument against that would be it opens the gates. It is unprecedented. I'm used to wrong and difficult decisions, but something like this never happened."

Neville has weighed in on Klopp's replay suggestion as he has issued a blunt response. Taking to X, he wrote: "Can't believe how Liverpool have grabbed defeat from victory in their handling of this!

"They were wronged by a shocking mistake. End of!"

Asked about his 'sudden change of tone' from Saturday, he added: "Because of Liverpools statement escalating it , mentioning integrity and exploring options. Now we've seen they want a replay! Thats madness."

Klopp and Liverpool alike will have to put the replay talks behind them when they resume their Europa League campaign tomorrow. They return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to Brighton.
