Victor Osimhen has seen significant growth on his social media page amid the ongoing controversy with Napoli's TikTok page.
Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has been in the headlines all week over a controversial video posted on his club's TikTok account.
The 24-year-old Napoli star was seemingly taunted by his club's social media page having missed a penalty in Napoli's draw against Bologna over the weekend.
The now-deleted video triggered widespread outrage on social media from supporters of the Super Eagles star who have continued to call for his immediate transfer from the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
Reports have also suggested that Osimhen is still awaiting an apology from the club, and could be forced to seriously consider his future in Naples.
However, it's not all been bad news for the Nigeria international who has also seen a massive growth on his social media page.
Victor Osimhen reaches 3 million followers on Instagram amid Napoli TikTok saga
Pulse Sports reports that Osimhen has gained over 200,000 followers on Instagram since the start of the trending TikTok saga.
Osimhen who is amongst the most-followed Nigerian footballers on social media has now reached an impressive milestone of 3 million followers on Instagram, having remained on just over 2.8 million followers for several months following Napoli's historic Scudetto triumph in May this year.
Pulse Sports reported that amid the TikTok controversy, Osimhen had wiped his page of all images of himself in a Napoli kit to send out a strong message of his displeasure with the bizarre clip.
The former Lille striker has now seen his numbers grow on the popular social network in less than a week.
Osimhen still remains the second most-followed Nigerian footballer on Instagram behind Henry Onyekuru who currently owns the no.1 spot, boasting more than 1 million followers than the Napoli no.9.
Osimhen returned to action for Napoli this week, scoring the second goal in an emphatic 4-1 win against Udinese in Serie A on Wednesday night.
