Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed they are more than happy to win the Treble after Newcastle United ended their dream of winning the Quadruple this season.
Alexander Isak scored the only goal at St James Park, to end City's hopes of winning four major trophies this season.
Guardiola made seven changes to his starting XI from the weekend victory over Nottingham Forest, leaving Erling Haaland on the bench.
The City boss' experimental line-up failed to produce a win as they exited the competition in the third round.
"You think the target was the quadruple? We are more than happy with the treble," Guardiola told Sky Sports after the match.
He added:
"We played an incredible game. They increased after the break and were more aggressive. They scored a goal. Last season we were out against Southampton and not there but tonight we were. Congratulations to Newcastle."
