Ten Hag has reportedly made a vital decision early in the season
Manchester United are reportedly already weighing up a move for a new goalkeeper just weeks after the arrival of Andre Onana with the Cameroonian international coming under increasing scrutiny following a spate of errors in his opening games.
The 27-year-old arrived from Inter Milan for a fee of around £50m over the summer but has conceded 14 goals in just seven appearances for the Red Devils and has suffered with a series of high-profile errors despite his impressive passing range.
The latest of those came against Bayern Munich, where he allowed Leroy Sane's shot to go in underneath him on his side's way to a 4-3 defeat at the Allianz Arena.
Though afterwards he fronted up to reporters to take the blame for the loss upon himself, reports from Spain are claiming that the United hierarchy and Erik ten Hag could already be looking to move things on.
As per Fichajes, United are weighing up a move for long-term target Jan Oblak as they look to move on from Onana as soon as January, with Oblak available to leave the RojaBlanco despite signing a new contract recently.
They add that Oblak has 'given his approval for the British club to begin talks on his signing' because 'he believes this could be the right time to take the next step in his career, which would most likely materialize at the end of the current season'.
He wouldn't come cheap though, with Diego Simeone's side looking to hold out for in excess of 50m euros to let their no.1 leave, though this is less than half of the release clause in his contract.
With injuries mounting, two goalkeepers signed over the summer and other areas of the squad to address all on a relatively limited budget, the arrival of Oblak seems highly unlikely but Onana's start to life at Old Trafford certainly raises more questions than he has answered.
