Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has begged Governor Godwin Obaseki to forgive him.
Daily trust report that, Shaibu, however, said, "Like I have always said, I am a loyal servant, and nothing has changed," when speaking with reporters shortly after being installed as the Grand Patron of the Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria (CMO) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin. I made a promise to back my governor, and as you can see, Catholics are in attendance. Everything about me is based on the idea that once I make a pledge to God, it cannot be broken. I can only hope that our previous relationship will resume; nonetheless, I have prayed for this to happen and am confident that it will in the coming weeks.
Shaibu fell out with the governor over his ambition to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Newsmen report that, the rift led to the governor being moved to another office outside the government house.
"I miss my governor, and I prayed that God would touch his heart, and the hearts of all of us, and even the hearts of those who try to stand between us, so that they would know that I mean well," Shuaibu said. I am not wicked, and I have a clean heart, so any mistakes I have done as a person have just been human errors.
"I use this medium to appeal to Mr. Governor that if there is any mistake I have made or if there is anything I have done that I don't know of, he should please forgive me so that we can develop our state together."
The governor had one year left, according to Shaibu, and they had been the envy of the entire nation because so many people thought it was impossible.
So, Mr. Governor, if there is anything you believe I have done wrong, please accept my apologies, and I need your help to finish strong and well because that is my prayer for you, he continued.
Shaibu declared that he had complied with the governor's order to move into his new office and added that he would gladly take on any duties delegated to him by his boss.
