Sergio Reguilon has quickly become a fan-favourite at Manchester United after leaving Tottenham on-loan late into the summer transfer window.
Manchester United supporters have heaped tremendous praise on Sergio Reguilon following their Champions' League group stage opener against Bayern Munich. The 26-year-old left-back, who joined the Red Devils on loan from Tottenham this summer, was a standout performer at the Allianz Arena for many fans in spite of defeat.
Erik ten Hag handed Reguilon his debut against Brighton at Old Trafford last weekend, with United short on options at the back. Despite the Spain international's best efforts, the Seagulls became only the third side to ever win four successive Premier League clashes against the Red Devils after Liverpool and Manchester City.
After impressing in the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the out-of-favour Spurs defender was given another start for United - this time in the Champions League against Bayern. The Red Devils struggled to contain Thomas Tuchel's side for large spells of the game, but supporters were left pleased with Reguilon's display.
One United fan by the username, @AJMUFC10, tweeted: "Our best player is a spurs reject."
Another by the handle, @agostinhozinga, tweeted: "He's reminded us what the NORMAL standard of a left back at United should be, he overlaps, he crosses and up and down the flank, the complete opposite of that wage thief Luke Shaw. big up Reguilon."
@RICH__UTD tweeted: "The rest of the defenders should give their wages to him tonight."
However, while the United fanbase were salivating over the Spaniard, Tottenham supporters were hesitant to give him his flowers. One Spurs fan, by the username @thfcharleyy, tweeted: "Wait until he gets put through one on one and pea rolls it at the keeper for the 5th straight time."
@youngLarryDav1d tweeted: "Make sure we agree a permanent deal before his form nosedives, he looked unreal for his first 6 games or so."
@N17CH4RL13 tweeted: "Gonna do the Adebayor. Give it all for a Permanent contract, then s**** when he gets it."
@ismael_ahad tweeted: "Nah. They [United fans] are deluded and cannot be saved. I can't be the only one that sees it. He was rubbish today."
