The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, has nullified the election of Peter Gyengdeng, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Barkin/Riyom Federal Constituency.
Newsmen reports that the tribunal declared Fom Chollom of the Labour Party as the validly elected representative for the constituency.
The tribunal's decision was based on a petition filed by Chollom, who challenged Gyengdeng's victory on the grounds that he was not validly nominated by the PDP.
The tribunal agreed with Chollom's arguments and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw Gyengdeng's certificate of return and issue one to Chollom.
