The United States of America, USA, has another Tennis sensational after youngster Coco Gauff became the youngest Grand Slam winner since legend Serena Williams.
Tennis sensation Coco Gauff has joined the list of Grand Slam winners after she was crowned champion of the 2023 US Open.
Gauff came from a set down to see off Aryna Sabalenka two sets to one to pick up her first Grand Slam title at the age of 19.
She defeated Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the US Open final late on Saturday night.
Coco vs Sabalenka
Belarusian superstar came into the US Open final as the favourite for the title having won the Australian Open earlier this year.
It was no surprise that the 25-year-old started in blistering fashion as she blew Coco away to take the opening set 2-6.
But despite boasting a 23-2 record at major tournaments this year, she was unable to stop the rampaging US sensation from a historic comeback and win.
Gauff overcame the stormy start to take the next two sets en route to her first-ever major Grand Slam title.
What the result means
In what was only her second major final after she finished runner-up in the French Open last year, the sixth-seeded Gauff learnt from that experience and used it to join a legend of the game.
With her win against Sabalenka, the youngster becomes the youngest American to win a Grand Slam since the legendary Williams achieved the feat in 1999 as a 17-year-old.
