A Spanish domestic abuse charity has called on Getafe to reverse their choice of signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.
Earlier this month, it was officially announced that both Manchester United and Greenwood had jointly decided that the most suitable course of action was for the forward to pursue his career elsewhere.
On the transfer deadline day, the 21-year-old successfully completed a loan transfer to the Spanish La Liga team, Getafe.
After securing Greenwood's signature, Getafe has come under intense scrutiny.
The Daily Mirror reports that the Ana Bella Foundation, a Spanish domestic abuse charity, has formally requested the club to reconsider their decision.
Ana Bella Estevez told the English publication:
"The club is setting a terrible example. Getafe executives should never have hired Mason Greenwood and should immediately overturn their decision.
"If you're a public facing organization like Getafe there is no excuse to take a neutral stance on violence against women - you must take moral responsibility."
According to Sportbible, Greenwood has been out of competitive action for over 18 months due to allegations of attempted assault, and controlling behaviour brought against him.
However, these charges were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February. United had also initiated their internal investigation into the case.
Greenwood to make Getafe debut?
Clubs from Turkey and Italy were interested in signing the 21-year-old forward, but the Spanish side won the race to sign him on a season-long loan.
His fitness would be questionable since he hasn't had a competitive game in months, so his debut is expected to come later, not in the 2-1 loss to Real Madrid yesterday.
As reported by Sun Sport, his debut will come after the international break, as he is slated to play against Osasuna on September 17.
