Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch favours a move to Liverpool ahead of Manchester United as Jurgen Klopp's side open talks with the Bundesliga champions.
Gravenberch is keen to leave Bayern Munich before Friday's transfer deadline.
The Netherlands international has struggled to secure a regular role under Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Bayern from Ajax last year for €18.5 million (£16m).
Both Liverpool and Man United have approached Gravenberch's representatives this summer, but the two Premier League clubs are yet to submit an offer to Bayern Munich.
However, according to The Athletic, Liverpool have now opened negotiations with Bayern Munich over Gravenberch's signature and are in talks over a transfer fee for the player.
The report added that Liverpool are working on a permanent deal, and Bayern Munich are open to selling Gravenberch, providing they can sign a replacement.
