Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the comeback of his team with 10 men against Newcastle was one of the best wins he has ever had as a manager.
Virgil Van Dijk was red-carded in the first half for a last-man foul on Alexander Isak and the Reds trailed shortly after Anthony Gordon's goal
However, Darwin Nunez came in as a substitute to be the hero for his team by scoring two goals in quick succession to hand Liverpool the victory.
Klopp was thrilled with the win and claimed that it was one of his best wins since he became a manager.
Klopp on the win against Newcastle
Klopp, who was obviously enraged by refereeing decisions for the majority of the game, claimed that this was possibly his best victory as a manager.
After the game, Klopp was asked how difficult the game was, he said as reported by Daily Mail, "Definitely. It was more difficult than the Barcelona game (in which Liverpool overturned a 3-0 first-leg deficit).
"In my 1,000 games as a coach, I've never had a game like this. With 10 men in an atmosphere like this against an opponent like this, I am pretty sure it never happened. These moments are rare and super special.
"I said at half-time that this (could be) really something we can tell our grandkids. I will see mine in 10 days and I will tell them. Two things were clear then: we cannot concede a second, Trent (Alexander-Arnold) cannot get another yellow card - and if that happens we have a chance."
About Nunez's match-winning goal, Klopp claimed that the Uruguayan was enthused about not being given the opportunity to start games and exploited this to his advantage to disprove the boss.
Klopp said, "I just give him a hug and encourage him to try for the team. "He is not happy about not starting but you cannot have more than 11 players playing all the time so you have to have stability.
"Players are not happy. We need to create a new way to play football and Darwin can be a key part of that.
"His key strengths are exceptional. Everything will be fine, it is just maybe it had to be like this. Let's take it like that."
