Mohamed Salah to shock the transfer market with €300m deal

Mohamed Salah and Liverpool seem to be close to separating after six years. The Premier League club is set to agree to an offer from Al-Ittihad, which will leave the Egypt international with €100 million.

Salah initially had little interest in a transfer to the Saudi Pro League but is said to have changed his mind in the meantime.

After 307 games, 187 goals and 80 assists, Salah seems to have played his last game for Liverpool.

The now 31-year-old attacker is set to be the next star player to leave the European fields for an adventure in Saudi Arabia and can follow his former teammate Fabinho to Al-Ittihad, who also boast World Cup winner N'Golo Kante and Ballon d'Or holder Karim Benzema among their number.

Like Salah, Liverpool initially saw nothing in a transfer from the attacker, but according to Saudi media, the sky-high amount offered has changed that.

Salah the most expensive Saudi Pro League player ever?

Should the transfer actually take place, Salah will become the most expensive player ever in the Saudi Pro League. That title has been in the name of Neymar, who made the transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal for €90 million, for just two weeks.

For Liverpool, the transfer fee is of course a nice bonus, but the departure of Salah will also mean that the Reds will probably have to go back to the transfer market.

Jurgen Klopp's team has already done quite a bit of work this summer, saying goodbye to experienced players such as Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool fans, on the other hand, have been frustrated with the comparatively slow work to bring players in, with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo arriving at Anfield.

If Salah were to leave, Liverpool would have to act fast to fill the void of one of the club's modern greats.
