Portuguese winger Jota (not to be confused with Liverpool's striker) only joined Al Ittihad last month but he is now reportedly being pushed out.
The 24-year-old scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists for Celtic last season, so he is absolutely good enough to play in Saudi Arabia. That's why the rumours about his imminent exit are so confusing.
According to unverified rumours on social media, Al Ittihad wants to get rid of Jota because of his lifestyle and some speculate he is gay (being gay is punishable by death in Saudi Arabia).
What's more, the Saudi club reportedly want to let him go for free despite paying €29m for his transfer last month.
There's a more likely explanation for why Al Ittihad want to let Jota go but the fact remains Jota is strongly linked to a premature exit.
Is there any reason why Man United wouldn't want to be all over this deal? One fan believes that no.
Sports enthusiast Chuck Borowski tweeted: "So what if he's actually gay! The great Louis van Gaal once said gays are more creative than average Joe's. 15 goals 12 assists last season for Ange at Celtic...
"Man, Jota would finally bench Ten Hag's illegitimate Brazilian son & calm the storm caused by the Greenwood thing."
By the 'illegitimate Brazilian son' Chuck evidently means Antony who is not prolific in terms of output and very predictable in his moves.
While Jota gravitates towards the left-hand side he can play on both sides as he is perfectly two-footed: he can cut in from the left or send crosses from the right - just watch 👇
