Manchester United's goalkeeper, André Onana, is set to make a return to his national team, having resolved a dispute with Cameroon's coach, Rigobert Song.
The shot-stopper, who is now a pivotal part of Erik Ten Hag's setup secured his move to Manchester United from Inter Milan in a deal worth £45 million deal.
Onana's journey back to international football has been rife with twists and turns. Six months ago, during the 2022 Qatar World Cup, he abruptly opted to leave his national team due to an acrimonious disagreement with Cameroon's head coach, Rigobert Song.
This feud was subsequently attributed to the orchestrations of Samuel Eto'o, the federation president, who appeared determined to sever ties with Onana.
However, the pendulum has now swung back in Onana's favor since his transfer to Manchester United.
Reports from Actu Foot Afrique confirm that the 27-year-old is set to rejoin the Cameroon squad, this development comes in light of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament scheduled for January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Amidst these revelations, Manchester United's contingency plans have also come to light. Fenerbahçe's goalkeeper Altay Bayındır, has been credited to the 20-time English Champions as a potential backup for Onana, should he find himself unavailable for selection.
