Barcelona's prodigious youngster has set a new LaLiga record after his appearance against Cadiz in LaLiga
Barcelona's latest starlet, Lamine Yamal, has cut himself a slice of LaLiga history after starting for the Blaugrana against Cadiz in their first home game of the Spanish league season.
Yamal makes first start for Barcelona
Yamal has already claimed a place in Barcelona's history after becoming the youngest player to represent the Blaugrana after making his debut against Real Betis in April 2023, when he was only 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old.
The forward has been impressive in the few minutes that he has been able to gather with the Barcelona first team and was recently rewarded with his first start for the club against Cadiz.
Yamal started for Barcelona against Cadiz and was lively on the right wing for the Blaugrana, playing a total of 85 minutes before being replaced by eventual goalscorer Ferran Torres.
Barcelona's Yamal reaches LaLiga milestone
With his start against Cadiz, Yamal became the youngest player to start a LaLiga game in the 21st century at 16 years and 38 days, beating Cameroonian Fabrice Olinga's record of 16 years and 112 days, set in September 2012.
Yamal was still a few months shy of the overall record for the youngest-ever player in LaLiga history, which was set in 1939 by Sanson, who appeared for Celta Vigo while being only 15 years, 8 months, and 11 days old.
The youngster Yamal is still yet to score his first goal for Barcelona, but given his recent performances could get amongst the goals soon.
